20040716_01.jpg

Yeah yeah, “Ooh Betty, the cat’s done a whoopsie in my beret” heard it all before.

20040716_02.jpg

Took us 4 hours to get up here (one of the people in this photo has soiled themselves, can you tell which one?)

20040716_03.jpg

“Yes, well, this, my darling child, is art. You can tell that by the way it’s hung on a wall in an art gallery”

20040716_04.jpg

We dropped in on Brancusi at his studio. He said “help yourself to nibbles” and disappeared upstairs. We couldn’t actually find any nibbles.

20040716_05.jpg

Inside this building we all became Catholics. It was either that or Hunchbacks.

20040716_06.jpg

“Move on steed, Alez! Alez!” [also a very bad Hunchback impersonation]

20040716_07.jpg

The hotel was charming [people were simply “dying” to get in, boom boom]

20040716_08.jpg

“Wow, the Louvre! I wonder if they have any terrifying pictures of babies in here?”

20040716_09.jpg

“Arggghhhh!” [lucky Rocket had already been born before we saw this chap]

20040716_10.jpg

A bit less scary but disturbing nonetheless.

20040716_11.jpg

We gather at the Arc de Thingoe to welcome Lance on his 6th Tour De France victory – only he didn’t finish for another week and a half! Lucky for him everyone else was even slower than he.

20040716_12.jpg

Oh goody it’s one of those puzzle picture things… wingbaby? windowface? skyrocket!!! Yay! What do I win?

(Actually this represents Rocket sleeping through our “mid-air emergency”. That’s all our precious fuel being dumped over Belguin [sorry Belgium] while we head back to Paris. Happy Bastille day!

20040716_13.jpg

We managed to smuggle our Hotel key out of the country by inserting it into Rocket’s gob – next time we’ll smuggle out some of that unpasteurized cheese!

20040716_14.jpg

“Didn’t know that you can pay only ten percent and get a sleeping compartment as well did you? Suffer in your jocks you huge pathetic adults!”

20040709_01.jpg

we head for a road trip to the west coast – on the way we stop at this tower house (like a mini-castle)

20040709_02.jpg

last time Shane and Fo were here you could climb the stone stairs of the tower right to the top

20040709_03.jpg

but now it’s been locked up (public liability most probably) so we have to be content with sitting outside 🙁

(richard would like to point out that he did not actually just slip and fall onto his arse just before the above photo was taken… he was just really very keen to sit on some really sharp gravel before going back to the car. Nice save Daddyo!)

20040709_04.jpg

an old farm-house and barn just down the road from our B&B…

20040709_05.jpg

there is most certainly no shortage of old ruins (castles, houses, towers, walls…) in this country…

(strangely the early Irish architects/builders must have a lot of troubles inventing the roof as very few of these early buildings had them)

20040709_06.jpg

and the sheep are very accommodating, standing still for postcard shots… (they are obviously from the UK or France as they are traveling on the wrong side of the road). Amazingly we were doing about 140km/h when this shot was taken but they still managed to get out of the way!

20040709_07.jpg

the west coast is a stunner – this is Achill Island
20040709_08.jpg

our attic room in Galway

20040709_09.jpg

she’s much prettier than us don’t you think?

20040709_10.jpg

visiting Malahide castle (just down the road from Shane and Fo), the last resident of which now lives in Tasmania (she’s 88, and had to sell the castle to pay the inheritance taxes) Observe the marvel of symbiosis! The beautiful baby controls that huge fat git with just a simple twist of the ear! Without her at the controls all he can manage are some basic life support functions and a little bit of telly watching.

Ahhh… The Tower!
